Precinct 6 voters choose Tommy Smith By The Democrat Staff Precinct 6 overwhelmingly chose Tommy Smith as its representative on the Marlin city council Saturday. Smith, a Marlin native and pilot with American Eagle, earned 111 votes to former city councilmember and write-in candidate Paula Kluck's 12. Kluck missed the deadline to be on the ballot, but filed as a write-in a week later. Kluck has been the Pct. 6 city councilmember for the last four years. This is Smith's first foray into politics. "These are new horizons, uncharted waters," said Smith in an earlier interview. "I need all the help I can get - I made that very clear to everybody I've talked to." According to the city secretary, the city has an elections administration budget of $3,000.
