Local Rotarians help cause by donating 11 AC units for needy The Marlin Rotary Club recently made a generous donation of 11 air conditioners to be distributed to needy Marlin residents through the Working for Christ Housing Rehab Project, June 23-29. These units were purchased through the Rotary District Assistance Grant, and will be installed by the local Rotarians along with Working for Christ volunteers. The Working for Christ Housing Rehab Project is in its 8th year. In the past seven years, over 80 homes have been repaired. Each year 80-100 people, young and old, come out to lend a hand and make it happen. It is a wonderful community project. This year many more volunteers are needed. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Mark your calendar for the week of June 23-29. Volunteers will gather each morning at 7 a.m. at the First Christian Church located on East Highway 7. Breakfast will be served, bag lunches provided, and everyone will be assigned to a work team. Work each day will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. If you can't volunteer the whole week, any amount of time given will make a valuable contribution. To register as a volunteer call 254-883-2157 or just show up. Jimmy Phillips and the organizers of the Working for Christ 2008 Housing Project wish to thank the Marlin Rotary Club for their generous contribution of 11 air conditioners which will help make this year's project an even greater blessing to families in Marlin this summer.
