GRIEFSHARE

GriefShare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one, will be held on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 309 Coleman Street, in Marlin beginning Feb. 7 – May 1, 2024. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts via video on grief recovery topics. Participants can jump in at any session. journey on the road to success

The National Booker T. Washington Alumni and Ex-Student Association in conjunction with Marlin ISD will hold a workshop, Journey on the Road to Success, on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for students in grades 7th-12th. Parents from Marlin ISD, Chilton ISD, Rosebud-Lott ISD, and other surrounding Falls County areas are encouraged to sign up their student(s) by March 29, 2024. Some of the topics that will be covered are resiliency, stress management, self-esteem/confidence, money literacy, and what’s after graduation. Minister Slugger will be the guest speaker. Prizes, snacks, lunch, collaboration, and music by DJ Rodney Scruggs will all be a part of the day’s activities. Parents, you do not want to miss this opportunity for your students! MARLIN EDC 

MEETING

The Marlin Economic Development Corporation will hold its March meeting on Tuesday, March 26, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 101 Fortune Street, Marlin, Texas. The meeting will be conducted according to the Texas Open Meetings Act.

 

SPRING FEST IN GOLINDA

FALLS COUNTY FREE TRASH DAY

Falls County Free Trash Day will be held at two locations - Marlin and Lott on May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon or until dumpsters are full. Tire Disposal - you unload. No tractor tires, no tires with rims. No commercial company tires.  Falls County Jail Site, 2847 Hwy. 6, Marlin and Waste Collection Station, 330 S. Hwy. 77, Lott. Must be a Falls County Resident. Batteries, Appliances & Brush (no larger than 3” in diameter) Will Be Accepted. No Chemicals - No Hazardous Waste - No Roofing Materials.

 

FOOD TRUCK

Austin Food Truck will be at the First Baptist Church/Golden Years parking lot on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 10-11 a.m.

 

FOOD GIVEAWAY

Every second Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Marlin Men’s Civic Association at 1106 N Business Highway 6.

 

AMERICAN LEGION

MARLIN SENIOR 

CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

STORY TIME

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

AFTER SCHOOL 

PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place.

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
