Lions Club’s U.S.A. Flags Project

Lions Club affirms, “To show our support of our country, all the military service men and women, and American Veterans, we put up flags at the Rose Triangle at the Falls County Courthouse on five national holidays.” Lions Club members erect U.S.A. flags on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Pearl Harbor Day, 9/11, and Veterans Day.

When not in use, the flags are stored appropriately to keep them clean and dry. When a flag shows signs of visible wear, however, it must be replaced.

The flags are beginning to fray and must be replaced. For this, the Lions Club of Marlin seeks donations to replace sixty (60) U.S.A. flags.

The Lions Club has been erecting U.S.A. flags in Marlin since 2009. The 3-foot-by-5-foot flags fly on 10 foot flagpoles, 18 inches in the ground.

“We remain enthusiastic about this project,” Lion Sheila Lawson explains. “We look forward to continuing having a very visible patriotic display on flag days in remembrance  of our veterans.”

Flags will fly on the following holidays: MEMORIAL DAY May 27, 2024; FLAG DAY June 14, 2024; PEARL HARBOR DAY September 7, 2024; 9/11 September 11, 2024; VETERANS DAY November 11, 2024.

Donations for the Lions Club U.S.A. Flag Project can be dropped off to Jay Elliott at the Falls County Courthouse or Sheila Lawson at The Dragonfly (downtown shop).
