Chilton ISD Superintendent Named a Finalist in ‘Of the Year’ Award

Dr. Brandon K. Hubbard has been chosen as a finalist for Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Rural Education Association. The superintendent of Chilton Independent School District, Hubbard is one of several finalists recognized for their lasting impact on rural education in Texas. This year, the Texas Rural Education Association received the highest number of nominations for its “Of the Year” awards in program history.

“Each year, we are inspired by the level of excellence and commitment shown by educators and school leaders across rural Texas,” Texas Rural Education Association Executive Director Bill Tarleton said. “The record number of nominations this year speaks volumes about the strength of our rural schools and the people who serve their communities with passion and purpose.”

Hubbard has served as the Chilton ISD superintendent since October 2016. He was selected thanks to his innovative and resilient leadership at a time when rural districts across Texas face hardships including declining enrollment, teacher shortages and heightened expectations.

The “Of the Year” finalists and winners will be celebrated at an awards luncheon held at the Texas Rural Education Association Annual Conference, which takes place June 14–17 at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in Round Rock.

The luncheon is on Tuesday, June 16.
