NORMAN ROSS SHORT AUGUST 18, 1940 - MARCH 19, 2026

Norman Ross Short, age 85, of Rosenberg, Tx passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

On August 18, 1940, he was born at home in Reagan, Tx. to Charlie Ross Short and Bernice Fuller Short. He grew up in Reagan, Tx. and graduated from Marlin High School. He attended business school in Port Arthur and was a co-manager at Duke and Ayres in Rosenberg where he met his wife, Josephine.

He later worked at a store in Mt. Pleasant, followed by a store in Groves, and also the Brach Candy Company. He then worked for Dickies for 6 years, and finally was employed by Rainbow Bread Company (now Sara Lee) as a delivery bread man for at least 30 years.

In retirement, he continued to remain active by helping his wife manage a local family owned washateria which included everything from cleanup to fixing washing machines and driers. For many years, he was devoted to volunteering at Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands as the Food Coordinator and was also on the board of directors at Helping Hands for several years.

Norman was a hard working, kind man who was dedicated to his family. He loved listening to music and could play the guitarĀ and later in life started learning how to play the keyboard. He also loved to research his family tree and spent lots of time on ancestry.com.

Norman was a faithful part of Grace Community Bible Church and a faithful attendee until his health prevented him from attending. However, he continued to listen to church services online. He trusted in Jesus Christ as His Savior and was confident that he was going to heaven when he left this earth.

He was predeceased by his son, Wendel Ross Short; his brother, Joe Short; and his parents, Charlie Ross Short and Bernice Fuller Short.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Josephine Short; their daughter, Pam Howard (son-in-law, Scott Howard); three grandchildren, Katelyn Britton (spouse, Joel Britton), Hannah Crosley, and Seth Crosley. He is survived by four great grandchildren, Owen Britton, Luke Britton, Jane Britton, and Amy Britton. He is also survived by his three sisters in law, Genevieve Bowman, Caroline Woebse, and Martha Benevelli.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service directly following at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Grace Community Bible Church, located at 5121 FM 359 in Richmond, Texas.
