FALLS COUNTY GRAND JURY REPORT

In February 2022, Judge Bryan F. Russ, Jr. convened court to hear felony matters presented by District Attorney Jody Gilliam. The following felony cases were disposed of:  

 

1st Degree Felony (5 to 99 years or life, up to $10,000.00 fine.)

Alonzo John Charles Ellis, 26, from Marlin, who had been placed on probation for the offense of aggravated robbery was revoked and sentenced to 10 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System. 

Jamie Cruz-Zuniga, 44, from Chilton, pled guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child victim under 14 years. He was sentenced to 25 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System and assessed a $1,500.00 fine. Cruz-Zuniga was arrested on March 19, 2021, by Falls County Sheriff’s Office. 

 

2nd Degree Felony (2 to 20 years, up to $10,000.00 fine.)

Steven Cody McMahan, 35, from Marlin, who had been placed on probation for the offense of possession of controlled substance pg2, psilocin, over four grams but less than 400 grams, was revoked and sentenced to 8 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System.  

Agustin Ramirez, 73, from Marlin, pled guilty to indecency with a child under 17 years. He was sentenced to 15 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System and assessed a $1,500.00 fine. Ramirez was arrested on July 27, 2017, by Falls County Sheriff’s Office. 

 

3rd Degree Felony (2 to 10 years, up to $10,000.00 fine.)

James Manuel Marquez, 21, from Arizona, pled guilty to bail jumping. He was placed on 5 years deferred probation. Marquez was arrested on January 6, 2022, by Falls County Sheriff’s Office. 

Javier Alejandro Gaytan, 30, from Brownsville, who had been placed on probation for the offense of bail jumping, was revoked, and sentenced to 5 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System.  

Javier Alejandro Gaytan, 30, from Brownsville, pled guilty to bail jumping. He was sentenced to 5 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Gaytan was arrested on December 21, 2021, by Falls County Sheriff’s Office.

State Jail Felony (6 to 24 months, up to $10,000.00 fine.)

Javier Alejandro Gaytan, 30, from Brownsville, who had been placed on probation for the offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine less than one gram, was revoked, and sentenced to 20 months confinement in a State Jail Felony. 

James Manuel Marquez, 21, from Arizona, pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance, cocaine less than one gram. He was placed on 3 years deferred probation, assessed a $1,500.00 fine. He was also ordered to complete a drug intervention program. Marquez was arrested on October 31, 2020, by Falls County Sheriff’s Office. 

Antwan Latron Evans, 35, from Marlin, pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine less than one gram. He was placed on 3 years deferred probation, assessed a $1,500.00 fine. He was also ordered to complete a drug intervention program. Evans was arrested on April 29, 2021, by Marlin Police Department. 

Courtney William Davis, 37, from Port Arthur, pled guilty to possession of controlled substance, methamphetamine less than one gram. He was placed on 3 years deferred probation, assessed a $1,500.00 fine. He was also ordered to complete a drug intervention program. Davis was arrested on August 5, 2020, by Falls County Sheriff’s Office. 

Oscar Olvera Vera, 38, from Reagan, pled guilty to possession of controlled substance, methamphetamine less than one gram. He was placed on 3 years deferred probation, assessed a $1,500.00 fine. He was also ordered to complete a drug intervention program. Vera was arrested on April 18, 2020, by Game Warden. 

Kiersten Nicole Williams, 31, from Waco, pled guilty to possession of controlled substance, methamphetamine less than one gram. She was sentenced to 8 months in a State Jail Facility. Williams was arrested on July 2, 2021, by Lott Police Department.
