UMARMY brings hope and home repairs to Marlin
The City of Marlin recently welcomed a dedicated team of youth and adult volunteers from UMARMY (United Methodist Action Reach-Out Mission by Youth), who spent a week repairing homes and restoring hope for Marlin residents in need.
From building wheelchair ramps and painting homes to repairing porches and replacing flooring, UMARMY volunteers worked tirelessly on multiple job sites across the city. Their efforts brought much-needed relief to local homeowners, many of whom are elderly, disabled, or facing financial hardship.
This impactful outreach was made possible in part by the generous sponsorship of the Marlin 4B Economic Development Corporation, which supported 10 of the project sites as part of its commitment to improving the quality of life for Marlin residents. and support. However, they also shared their sincere regret that, due to time and resource limitations, they were unable to serve every household that reached out for assistance. “It is never easy to turn away a neighbor in need,” said a UMARMY team leader. “We are deeply sorry we could not get to all of the homes that contacted us, and we hope to return in the future to continue this mission.”
The Marlin 4B EDC extends its thanks to UMARMY for choosing Marlin and encourages other organizations and residents to join in continuing the work of revitalization and service.
