Brazos River Authority to close parks due to COVID-19

The Brazos River Authority has made some adjustments as we navigate, along with the rest of the world, the national pandemic that is COVID-19.

To stay consistent with other federal and state entities, starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 9, all Brazos River Authority parks will be temporarily closed to the public.

At this time, boat ramps will remain open for access to the lakes at the three BRA-owned reservoirs: Possum Kingdom Lake, Lake Limestone and Lake Granbury.

Lake Rangers will continue to monitor conditions on the reservoirs. The river authority encourages everyone to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations to maintain at least six feet distance from other people, frequently wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, stay home when sick, and regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces.

This change does not preclude normal access to the river for recreational activities. The Brazos River Authority will announce when a definite reopening date has been determined.
