Danger Zone... Reminiscing? Bubbles Might Be on Track for Another Great Week!

Hello Sports Fans!

What was that old song that Kenneth Clark Loggins (yes, that’s what Mrs. Loggins called little Kenny) used to sing? Don’t strain your gray matter, it was This Is It. And that’s where we are with the schoolboy football season. This is it, the last week of the regular season. The week that separates the contenders from the pretenders. The week where some young men will don the shoulder pads for the last time in their lives while others live on to fight another District day.

This Is It? Might be more like Highway to the Danger Zone!

Little River Academy at Cameron

Tough one to call in District 11-3A, but man the music should be fantastic. I mean Cameron has one of, if not THE best marching bands in the Lone Star State. And then you’ve got the Little River Band! I mean wow! Reminiscing, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser . . . Wait, what? This is the Little River Academy? Are they connected to the band? Pshaw!

Take CHS in a repeat of last year and a four-point win!

Marlin at Moody

Without a doubt it’s been a tough year for our Marlin Bulldogs (and equally tough on old Bubbles trying to correctly pick them).

But this District 13-2A matchup has the potential to be a great finish to a long season for both teams. Moody has a shot at a decent record while nothing Marlin can do will change a sub .500 mark into a plus .500 one.

I hate it, but it’s looks like Moody by a TD --- and then again, I’ve been off all year with Marlin, so maybe that’s a good thing for them.

Thorndale at Holland

OK, this is an interesting game on so many different levels. On paper, this should be a slam-dunk Thorndale victory. But how much will last week’s game, the District 14-2A standings and the overall season status come into play?

What? You’re waiting on an answer from me? I was hoping you knew.

You know what? All the other noise doesn’t matter. From kickoff to the final buzzer, this is a game won or lost on the field. Thorndale wins. By a pair of scores.

Crawford at Rosebud-Lott

Ladeeeees and Gentlemennnnnn, In tonight’s heavyweight title bout . . .

Two teams ready to be champions square off in District 13-2A. To be fair about it, I think this one could be a coin flip – but where’s the fun in that. (Hint, hint UIL! You guys should NEVER allow a coin flip to determine a season’s worth of effort. Shame on you all . . . but I digress.)

Look, I’ve said it all year – I’m a homer. No sense stopping now. Besides, home field advantage does make a difference. RL wins by 2.
