Lott Homecoming cancelled for this year

John Self, President of the Lott Ex-Students Association, has announced that the Annual Homecoming scheduled for October has been canceled due to members’ concerns about such a gathering at this time. A bigger than ever event will be planned for 2021.

The Association was established in 1949 and has been host to an annual Homecoming at the Lott school gym every year since it’s beginning. This year was to have been the 71st Annual Homecoming.

Ex-Students from Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Florida, Tennessee, California, and Indiana have come to Lott to attend this event every year to visit with classmates and enjoy the Memory Room where pictures of graduation classes, yearbooks, and other memorabilia is displayed.

“We want to assure everyone that the 71st Homecoming has not been canceled, just rescheduled,” Self said. “All ex-students, not just graduates, are invited to attend The Lott Ex-Students Association Homecomings and we hope to have a big crowd in October 2021.”

The graduating class of 1970 was the last group to graduate from Lott High School. The oldest attendee last year was a member of the 1941 graduating class, Mrs. Dorothy Reaves Polley, who is the author of a book entitled Lott and Her People.
