Scaman charged with sexual assault

Falls County Sheriff Ricky Scaman was booked into Bell County Jail on Monday, Sept. 21 around 3:15 p.m. on multiple charges.

The 48-year-old, an elected official up for re-election in November, was detained and arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers earlier that day. There were warrants charging felony assault on a public servant, sexual assault and misdemeanor official oppression.

Scaman was still being held early Tuesday morning on a bond of $195,000.
