Texas child welfare expert tackles COVID impact on abuse
WASHINGTON, June 25, 2020 — Child abuse reports have fallen nationwide since stay-at-home orders began and school ended, but that doesn’t mean abuse has stopped. In fact, doctors are seeing injuries far more severe than pre-pandemic.
Kate Murphy, senior policy associate with Texans Care for Children, joins fellow advocates tomorrow (Fri, 6/26) for a conversation about staying safe at home when staying home isn’t safe. “Understanding Child Abuse During the Coronavirus” kicks off the national conversation series Kids & COVID, from First Focus on Children.
Experts from Children’s National Hospital and the Center for Children’s Justice also join the conversation.
