West Texas farm and ranch conference set July 31-Aug. 1

Monahans event will feature AgriLife Extension experts

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be holding the West Texas Farmer and Rancher Conference from July 31-Aug. 1 in Monahans.

The two-day event will take place from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. daily at the Ward County Events Center at 1525 E. Monahans Parkway.

The cost is $40 for participants and $30 for an accompanying spouse if preregistered by June 30. The price at the door is $55 a person. Lunch is included.

“This event will provide West Texas agriculture producers with educational and growth opportunities,” said Emily Grant, AgriLife Extension agent for Val Verde County. “With the variety of agriculture production in West Texas, a committee of AgriLife Extension county agents in District 6 came together to organize and put on this conference.”

The conference will feature AgriLife Extension experts from across the state, and participants may choose the session of interest to them. July 31 will have two concurrent sessions of speakers, one will cover crops while the other will cover rangeland, wildlife and livestock.

Aug. 1 will focus generally on agriculture and will conclude with a livestock handling demonstration by Ron Gill, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension livestock specialist, College Station.

“The goal of the West Texas Farmer and Rancher Conference is to provide our producers with the latest news and developments in agriculture that will help them be more successful,” Grant said.
