Where There Is a Need, There Is a Lion

Special to the Marlin Democrat

Lions Club of Marlin continues to put kindness in action by putting the health and safety of our communities first. Lions this month will be writing letters, sending cards to residents of Golden Years Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Falls Community Hospital and Clinic, and in the Meals-on-Wheels registry. Next month, Lions will be painting street corners of various blocks in Uptown Marlin.  October is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month as well as Vision Awareness Month. Lions Club of Marlin continues its plans to provide vision screening for early detection of all visual impairments of all children in the MISD school system plus children not yet in school. Also in October, children can look forward to the Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest!

Lions are ordinary people helping ordinary people. Do you see an opportunity for a random act of kindness? Do you see a need and have an idea for helping our community? Please, send a message to Marlin Lions Club Facebook, because when caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing—and an incredible feeling for everyone involved.
