Falls County Sheriff Warns of Ongoing Cattle Theft Investigation
The Falls County Sheriff’s Office is warning ranchers and landowners to be on high alert following reports of cattle thefts in the region. According to the department, suspects are targeting yearlings and calves that lack identifiable markings such as brands or ear notches.
In several instances, cattle owners have discovered their livestock already penned—an indication that thieves may be returning later to retrieve the animals. Authorities believe the suspects are intentionally rounding up unmarked cattle, securing them in pens, then returning at a later time to load and remove them.
The Falls County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the thefts in collaboration with the Limestone County and Robertson County sheriff’s offices, as well as Special Rangers from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
Cattle owners are urged to conduct regular headcounts, lock gates, pens and chutes, and remain vigilant for suspicious activity or unfamiliar vehicles in the area. Any suspicious behavior should be reported to the sheriff’s office immediately.
