Marlin ISD Announces New Athletic Director/Head Football Coach

A Special Board Meeting of Marlin ISD was held April 6, 2026 at 5 p.m. in the MISD Boardroom, Board President Byrleen Terry, presiding. Attendees were Misty Ehlers, Billy Johnson, Winnette Outland, Sharon Tomlinson, Debra Trotter, Superintendent of Schools Alphonso Bates and Dr. Rolando Trevino, TEA Conservator.

The Board recessed from the open meeting and reconvened in closed session pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.074 for the purpose of considering the employment of Athletic Director/Head Football Coach. Convening from closed session, the Board approved recommendation to hire Ayrus Gaines as Athletic Director/Head Football Coach. Also approved was the Board Operating Procedures.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned. The next meeting will be held on April 20.
