A wrong-way driver was killed this afternoon after colliding head-on with a semi-truck on State Highway 6 near County Road 105, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The crash occurred around 12:45 p.m. when a passenger car traveling in the wrong direction struck a truck tractor semi-trailer in the northbound lanes. The impact caused the truck to overturn, while the car became fully engulfed in flames.
DPS reported that one person, believed to be the driver of the passenger car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck sustained only minor injuries.
Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash. Both northbound and southbound lanes of SH-6 are expected to face significant delays until about 7 p.m. as crews work to clear the wreckage and reopen the highway.
