Back to school prayer walk

16th Annual Back To School Prayer Walk 2021, Saturday, Aug. 7 at 7 a.m. Meet at Marlin High School Parking Lot. Join others in prayer for a successful school year and for our Marlin community. Bible School

First Baptist Church Marlin will host Bible School Concrete & Cranes on Aug. 2-6 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the church, 309 Coleman Street in Marlin. For more information call (254) 883-2516 or email fbcmarlinpastor@gmail.com. There will be a kick-off on July 31 with hot dogs and bounce houses.

 

Men’s Day

Grace Lutheran Barbeque

Grace Lutheran Church will hold its 39th Annual Barbeque on Aug. 7 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the MMCA Building, 1104 N. Hwy. Bus. 6 in Marlin. Brisket plates are $12 and include all the trimmings. Eat in or drive-thru.

 

Retired Teachers

The Falls County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, at the BTW Alumni Building, 216 Falls St. This is the first in-person meeting since February 2020.  The State theme for the 2021-22 year is “Family Reunion: Remembering the Past, Looking into the Future.” Texas Retired Teacher Association Membership includes anyone who is a recipient a TRS annuity and is not limited to teachers. Juneteenth Club

BBQ Fundraiser

The Falconer- Stamps Community Center is sponsoring a BBQ Dinner fundraiser, Saturday, Aug. 14, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu will include BBQ chicken leg quarters, links, potato salad, baked beans and dessert. Ticket donation is $11. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for building repairs and updates. Please note the event will be held at the BTW Alumni Building, 216 Falls. Chamber Banquet

The Marlin Chamber of Commerce is planning its 109th Awards Banquet, 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at the Marlin Men’s Civic Center. Numerous local businesses and volunteers will receive recognitions for leadership and service. Tickets are $12 pre-sale and $15 at the door.  Former Marlinite Hon. Marlin Athletic 

Boosters

Marlin Athletic Boosters will hold a turkey leg fundraiser on Aug. 21 at the Lucille Williams Pavilion from 10 a.m. until sold out. Cost is $10 per turkey leg.

 

BTW Alumni Marlin 

Chapter

The BTW Alumni Association Marlin Chapter will meet Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at 6 p.m. at the Alumni Building, 216 Falls. Anyone who attended BTW or graduated from BTW are welcomed to attend. For more info, call (979) 739-0219.

Local Youth Program

Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.

 

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $25 per child. Lions Club meeting
