Temple College offering free fall semester for students

There has never been a better time to attend Temple College.

That is the message the college is trying to get out to prospective students.

“If funding your college education has been the reason for not enrolling, we can change that this fall,” said Temple College President Dr. Christy Ponce. “This fall semester there is more financial assistance available than ever before.”

President Ponce said that for the first time ever, Temple College is able to offer students a free fall semester. That’s because the college has enough funding from the federal government to offer all full-time students emergency aid grants of up to $1,500. These grants can be applied directly to tuition for the fall semester.

“For in-district students, this would be enough to cover all their classes,” President Ponce said.

She noted that with the addition of financial aid, scholarships, and other grants the college has been able to secure, even out-of-district students may be able to get their entire tuition paid this fall.

For example, the college has a $750,000 grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board that will cover tuition and fees for adults who started college but for any reason may have needed to stop out before earning a degree or certificate. Eligible students can receive up to $2,500 a semester through this grant program.
