MISD opens Superintendent application

The search for a new leader for Marlin Independent School District is officially underway after a special meeting of the Marlin ISD Board of Managers held on March 6.

After an hour-long closed session to consult with the district’s attorney to talk about the legalities with the interview process, to develop a timeline and profile for the position, and to discuss the consideration of hiring a new superintendent, the board decided to move forward with the process.

This means that the application for the position is officially open and will be available until April 10. According to Letha Hopkins, of Education Solutions and Service, it will be posted to the Region 12, TASA, and Marlin ISD websites. These are typical locations for superintendent position job boards.

All of the applications will be sent directly to the consulting firm. Hopkins has no goal for the number of applications received, as the educator believes that the qualities of the candidates matter more than the quantity of applicants.

Once the application period ends, EDSAS will then compile a list of candidate recommendations for the board to consider during their  decision making process. These recommendations come both from the profile compiled by the Board of Managers and from community input.

An online survey has been circulated to parents and is available at marlinisd.org for any members of the community who would like to give comment on what they want in the next leader for Marlin ISD. Additionally, Hopkins can be contacted directly by phone, text or email at (972) 977-8668 and letha@edsas.com.
