Albright helps out with Panhandle fires

Falls County’s own Kassidy Albright helped out with relief efforts last month for the ranchers affected by the Smokehouse Creek Fire (Canadian, Stinnett - Hemphill, Roberts & Hutchison Counties) and the Windy Deuce Fire (Borger, Fritch - Hutchison County) that burned over 1 million acres in the Texas Panhandle.

The Smokehouse Creek Fire is now the biggest Texas Wildfire on record.

Albright hauled hay donated by Austin Walker of Corsicana to drop points set up by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Hutchison County out of Borger. At these drop points extension agents are able to directly contact ranches in need and direct volunteers to the ranches to distribute the donated hay.

“The devastation the communities endured was immense, entire ranches were left in ashes and months of hay reserves were lost,” Albright said. “However, the support pouring into the panhandle has been nothing short of amazing.”

Kassidy Albright is a native of the Otto area of Falls County and currently attends Tarleton State University in Stephenville. She was assisted with the delivery by Joshua Martin and her dog, Frog.
