American Legion Riders visit Veterans

On Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, members of American Legion Riders (motorcycle) of American Legion Post 121 and American Legion Post 273 visited three U.S. Veterans residing at Golden Years Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marlin. Two of three U.S. Veterans residing at Golden Years are photographed in wheelchairs, while the other gentleman remained indoors.

Serving the Veteran’s Mission, the Sons of the American Legion Squadron Post 121’s mission is to provide care packages to the U.S. Veterans in the Central Texas area who reside in assisted living/nursing homes. The fulfillment of this mission is in honor of Joe Edd Neal, former District Detachment Commander, Commander for Squadron 121, and Lifelong Member. They are dedicating this mission to his legacy and influence on the growth of the Sons of the American Legion. This is also another way to express appreciation to them for their service and commitment to our country and to

let them know that they are not forgotten.

Veterans visited Westview Manor in McGregor and Greenview Manor in Waco prior to Golden Years Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A visit to Gatesville is next in their plans.

Items included in care packages: Socks, Blankets, Lotions, Chapstick; Simple Crafts (no paint), Puzzle/Word Search Books, Male and Female Hygiene Essentials (no aerosols except shaving cream).

The project began before COVID-19 surfaced.

Some of our Partners are American Legion Post 121, American Legion Auxiliary 121, American Legion Riders 121, American Legion Post 273 McGregor, Veterans One Stop, Help Heal Veterans, All American Legions within District 11.

The American Legion Post 121 meets at 722 Leroy Parkway, Elm Mott, TX 76640.
