Another solar farm brings jobs to Falls County residents

Enel Green Power announced on Wednesday, May 3, that it started construction on its largest U.S. solar farm just outside of Temple and Waco in Falls County.

“During construction, there will be around 350 construction jobs. That’s everyday folks that are buying things from a local community, going out to eat, etc.,” says Ryan Flynn-Kasuba, Senior Business Development Manager at Enel Green Power.

Of the 350 construction jobs, there will be 18 permanent positions.

Falls County Judge Jay Elliott says this is a “win-win” situation for the county.

“It will increase tax revenues, which will allow the county to lower our tax rate,” the official told reporters.

The project is expected to bring in a whopping $52 million in lifetime landowner payments and over $59 million in tax revenue.

Enel recognized a need after February’s winter storm that left many without power for days; the grid needs strengthening and that’s what they plan to do.

The project called the Roseland Farm, is projected to be completed in 2022. Enel has two other energy projects ongoing in the state of Texas; a solar farm in Grimes County and a wind Farm near Abilene.

Enel remains as one of the largest renewable energy companies in the entire world. It made its first investment in the U.S. about 15 years ago.
