ROCKDALE ALCOA RETIREES MEETING

The next meeting of the Rockdale ALCOA Retirees Meeting will be held Thursday, June 12 at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall (formerly the VFW Hall). Doors open at 5 p.m. with a business meeting at 5:45. A BBQ meal will be available for $15. Annual dues of $10 will be collected. Dessert group A–L.

22ND ANNUAL LIONS CLUB CAR & MOTORCYCLE SHOW

Join the Lions Club on Saturday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the square at the Courthouse in Marlin for the 22nd annual Lions Club Car & Motorcycle Show.. 2025 TEXAS ARCHEOLOGICAL FIELD SCHOOL

Registration is now open for the Texas Archeological Society’s 2025 Field School, taking place June 14–21 in Milam and Robertson counties. Participants will work alongside professional archeologists to identify and record Native American and colonial-era sites. Activities include excavation, lab analysis, surveys, and evening programs. Youth ages 7–14 can join a special group to learn hands-on archeology skills. Scholarships are available. Register online at www. txarch.org/field-school.

REP. PETE SESSIONS TO HOST TOWN HALL IN MCLENNAN COUNTY

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions will host a town hall meeting on Monday, June 16, in Robinson to hear from residents of Texas’ 17th Congressional District. The event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Robinson Junior High School cafetorium, located at 400 West Lyndale Drive. Constituents are invited to share their thoughts and concerns with the congressman during the meeting.

FALLS COUNTY ROW CROP TOUR

The Falls County Blackland Row Crop Tour will be held Monday, June 16, starting at 7:30 a.m. Stops include Herzog’s Corn Plot, Hoelscher’s Sorghum Test Plot, and lunch at the Westphalia Cafeteria in Lott. MARLIN TO HOST JUNETEENTH EVENTS

The Marlin Texas Juneteenth Organization will kick off celebrations with a Gospel Explosion & Showcase on Tuesday, June 17 at 6 p.m. at the BTW Alumni Building, 216 Falls Street. Events continue with the Juneteenth Parade on Thursday, June 19 at 11 a.m., followed by a program, scholarship presentation and community dinner. KIDS FOOD GIVEAWAY

The Central Texas Food Bank is doing a Kids Food Giveaway biweekly starting Monday, June 9 at 11:00 am at the Marlin Public Library. First Come First Serve. All CHILDREN under 18, including home school children are eligible. Upcoming Mondays will be June 23, July 7, 21 & August 4.

BBQ SANDWICH FUNDRAISER FOR MARLIN VFD

The Marlin Volunteer Fire Department will host a BBQ sandwich fundraiser on Sunday, June 29, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until sold out. The $15 plate includes a slow smoked beef brisket sandwich, chips, a drink and dessert. Both dine-in and carry-out options will be available. A silent auction and raffle will also be held, with both ending at 2 p.m. The event will take place at 3172 State Highway 6 in Marlin.
