Old-fashioned Day

The Marlin Missionary First Baptist Church Mission I Auxiliary is hosting its annual Old-Fashioned Day Sunday, April 23, at 10 am. The theme is “Pass the Fruit”-Gal. 5: 22-23. Historical artifacts and fashion history will be the highlights of the program. Special guests will be Pastor Nika Davis and the Second Baptist Church of Waco. Dinner will be served. Bible study

Bible Study at First Presbyterian Church in Lott begins Saturday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at the church located at the corner of Gassaway Ave and 8th St in Lott. Bonnie Wolfe will lead the study and everyone is welcome. For more info call (254) 493-0567.

To be born again, revived, renewed, or refreshed. Now is the appointed time. The Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church invites the public to its Revival, Friday, April 28, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m. Apostle Reginald Carson and Prophetess Christie Carson, God’s House of Miracles of Plano, will be guest speakers. Zion Hill is located 385 South Hwy 6 Business, Marlin, Minister Deborah Raphael, Interim Pastor.

 

National Day of prayer

fREE TRASH DAY

Falls County Free Trash Day will be held at two locations - Marlin and Lott - on Saturday, May 6, from 8 a.m. to noon or until dumpsters are full. Two Locations: Falls County Jail Site, 2847 Hwy. 6, Marlin; Waste Collection Station, 330 S. Hwy. 77, Lott. Batteries, Appliances and Brush (no larger than 3” in diameter) Will Be Accepted. NO TIRES - No Chemicals - No Hazardous Waste - No Roofing Materials. 

 

 

Family fun day

Country Worship Cowboy Church will host a Team Roping event on May 7 for the 22nd Annual Family Fun Day. Join at 10 a.m. for church with special music and message from recording artist Rex Robards followed by a fish fry lunch. Team Roping 4 for $80. Lions Car Show

The 20th Annual Marlin Lions Club’s Car & Motorcycle Show will be held on Saturday, June 10, at the Courthouse Square in Marlin. Cost is $20 pre-registration ($25 day of) and online registration at jay.t.elliott@gmail.com. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature prizes and a 50/50 drawing.  Spectators are welcome at no charge to view the Cars & Motorcycles on the Square on June 10 with proceeds helping the Marlin Lions serve the local community.    

Chamber raffle

Marlin Chamber 2023 Raffle tickets are on sale. First prize is a 40” Full HD Television, Second Prize is a Home Theater Projcetor and Screen, Third Prize is a $50 Visa Gift Card. Drawing is on April 10. Tickets are $5 each or three for $12. Conact any Chamber officer for tickets.

American Legion

Marlin senior 

center

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Falconer Stamp Center on Durr Street.

 

Caregiver 

Classes offered

The Area Agency on Aging of the Heart of Texas (AAA) offers Stress Busting Program for Family Caregivers in Marlin. 

Chronic Illness Stress-Busting for Family Caregivers will be offered in Marlin on Tuesday afternoons from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Falls Community Hospital & Clinic on 322 Coleman Street, Marlin. Classes will meet 90 minutes per week for 9 weeks. They are free and come with a complimentary book. Classes begin   April 25 running through June 20.

Stress Busting offers caregivers tools and strategies they may need to care for themselves as well as their loved ones. The program utilizes a holistic approach addressing emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of caregivers. You should pre-register for SBP to assure a seat.
