GRIEFSHARE

GriefShare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one, will be held on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 309 Coleman Street, in Marlin beginning Feb. 7 – May 1, 2024. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts via video on grief recovery topics. Participants can jump in at any session. Black history workshop

The Marlin Missionary First Baptist Church Mission I Auxiliary will host the Good Hope Western General Association Mission I, Mission II & Youth Auxiliaries Black History Workshop Saturday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m.  The theme is “Witnessing to the World, that Jesus is the Light of the World”. Austin Food Truck will be at the First Baptist Church/Golden Years parking lot on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 10-11 a.m.

 

FOOD GIVEAWAY

Every second Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at hte Marlin Men’s Civic Association at 1106 N Business Highway 6.

 

KC Fish Fry

Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council #13902 will sponsor a drive-thru Shrimp & Fish Fry every Friday evening beginning Feb. 16 thru March 22.  Plates will be “to go only” starting at 3:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. (or until sold out).  Plates will consist of fried shrimp, fried fish, beans,  slaw and french fries.  Cost will be $12 per plate.  Plates can be picked up in a drive-thru lane behind the Westphalia Parish Hall, 3000 State Highway 320, Westphalia. Proceeds support the KC’s charity goals for the year.

 

AMERICAN LEGION

Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.

 

MARLIN SENIOR CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

STORY TIME

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. MARLIN LIONS

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place. 

 

VETERANS ASSISTANCE

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
