Read Across American Day

National Read Across America Day is Wednesday, March 2, a day to celebrate our favorite activity, reading. The day was established by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998 to help get kids excited about reading. The day occurs each year on the birthday of beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss. On National Read Across America Day, students, teachers, parents, and community members around the nation come together to read books and celebrate the joy of reading and the interactive experience with the students. With the introduction of smartphones and tablets, it is essential than ever to motivate children to read.If you are a community leader or parent and interested in participating in the March 2 National Read Across America Day by reading to Marlin ISD elementary and middle school students, please contact Patrice Woodson, Director of Curriculum, at (254) 883-3585 for more information.
