GRIEFSHARE

GriefShare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one, will be held on Wednesday mornings, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marlin, beginning Feb. 7 until May 1, 2024. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts via video on grief recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “Is This Normal?”, “The Challenges of Grief”, “Why?”, “Guilt and Anger” and more. First Baptist Church is located at 309 Coleman Street in Marlin. Registration fee is $25 which covers the cost of a workbook. Participants can jump in at any session. CHILI SUPPER

The Otto Community Chili Supper will be held on Jan. 19 from 5-8 p.m. at the Community Center. Desserts will be for sale as well.

 

CHASE YOUR SHADOW 5K

Chase Your Shadow 5K Fun Run will be held at Mooreville Methodist Church on Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fun run, bake sale, brunch and fellowship. Sign up online at www.RunSignUp.com and search for Mooreville to find the race. Register in person on Friday, Feb. 2, from 4-6 p.m. or 7-8:30 a.m. on Feb. 3. AMERICAN LEGION

Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.

 

MARLIN SENIOR CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. MARLIN LIONS

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place. 

 

VETERANS ASSISTANCE

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
