Stress busting

The Heart of Texas Area Agency on Aging will be sponsoring a Stress Busting Class for Family Caregivers beginning on Tuesday, July 18, and it will run for nine weeks every Tuesday at the Marlin Public Library from 2-3 p.m. No charge to attend. Blood Drive

The Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council #13902  is sponsoring a Baylor Scott & White blood drive on Sunday, July 16, at the Westphalia Parish Hall from 8am to 11:30am. The council is providing breakfast tacos, starting at 9am to anyone who signs up to give blood, as well as all parishioners of the Church of the Visitation. A photo ID is required to donate. To schedule your appointment go to BSWBLOOD.COM and find the July 16th blood drive. Appointments are highly encouraged; walk-ins will be accepted as space allows. Give blood, the gift of life!

 

Riesel Lions

The Riesel Lions Club is now accepting parade entries for their annual Lions Club Sweetheart Parade on July 28, 2023. Line up is at 5:30 p.m. Parade starts at 6:30 p.m.

 

Annual Meeting

Families of Hillcrest Cemetery will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. at Marlin Senior Civic Center.

Every second Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church parking lot in Marlin.

 

American Legion

Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.

 

Marlin seniorcenter

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

After School 

Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. Lions Club meeting

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place. 

 

Veterans

Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
