Water Drive

The Marlin Chamber of Commerce is holding a water drive for the Marlin Fire Department. Items needed are bottled water and gatorade (no specific brand). Drinks can be dropped off during business hours at the Marlin Chamber office at 245 Colemen Street or at The Petal Patch at 264 Coleman Street. You can also make monetary donations, please make check out to Marlin Chamber of Commerce. Help keep our firefighters hydrated.

 

HEad start

The Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation of Planning Region XI Head Start/Early Head Start announces the sponsorship of the Child Care Food Program. All children attending Head Start / Early Head Start will be offered the same free meals and will not be discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.

 

FAITH Hope and Charity Registration

Faith, Hope and Charity registration will be July 25-29 from 2-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 1-4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at 405 East First Street. Grades Pre-K to 5th grade. Each class will consist of three students. All students must be present with parents during registration and all applications will be done at FHC. Back to school prayer walk

The 7th Annual Back to School Prayer Walk 2022 is scheduled Saturday, July 30, at 7 a.m. All participants are asked to meet at the Marlin High School parking lot.  Come join our Board of Managers, administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents, and our Marlin community as we pray together for a safe and successful school year. This event is coordinated by Overcomers in Christ, an Outreach Ministry of Zion High Missionary Baptist Church with Marlin Ministerial Fellowship. Mobile Mammograms

Free mobile mammograms coming to Falls County on Aug. 17 at Falls Community Hospital and Clinic in Marlin. To schedule your appointment, call the clinic by Aug. 3 at (979) 436-0453 or (979) 436-0443. Must pre-register two weeks in advance. Uninsured women residing in Falls County area age 40-54 with no mammogram in one year or age 55-74 with no mammogram in two years. Sponsored by Texas A&M University Health, Texas A&M Family Health Care, and Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

Texas Rose Vender Market will be open at the Texas Rose Building on August 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Project Leader Workshop

The Mid-Texas Area Team is hosting a Project Leader Workshop, Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall, 1401 W. Central Ave.,Temple, Texas, 76504. Do you enjoy packing shoebox gifts for children through Operation Christmas Child, which shares the Gospel with children, worldwide?  Do you encourage others to pack boxes or do you lead a group to collect shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child? Join us to receive information, resources, and ideas to generate more boxes. Participate in an Escape Room activity, learn about the impact made on the lives of shoebox recipients, especially through The Greatest Journey discipleship program, and learn how to create gifts for boxes. ST. PAUL CHURCH ORGANIZES DAY TRIP

St. Paul Church is planning a trip to the Schulenburg area on Oct. 4 to see the highly acclaimed Painted Churches of Texas. These beautifully adorned churches, built more than 100 years ago by Czech and German immigrants, have been featured in numerous publications and television programs.  The day trip, led by M&M Tours of Hewitt, will pick passengers up at St. Paul Church, 212 FM 2307, 5 miles north of Marlin.  It includes transportation in a deluxe motor coach and lunch at the Oakridge Smokehouse in Schulenburg.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the restoration of the historic St. Paul church building.  For more information, call 1-800-700-9620 or email rememberstpaul@yahoo.com.

 

Local Youth Program

Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.

 

Computer classes

Computer Classes continue at the Marlin Library on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

 

Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

American Legion

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Falconer Stamp Center on Durr Street.
