Town Hall meeting

Town Hall Meeting The Future of Economic Development  In Marlin will be held on March 23 at 6 p.m. in Marlin City Council Chambers, 101 Fortune Street, Marlin. Everyone is invited. Hosted by Marlin 4B Economic Development Corporation. 

 

Fish Fry

Marlin Methodist Women are having Friday Fish  Fry on March 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. drive-thru at the Church at 411 Coleman Marlin. Dessert tent, also. Fish, hush puppies, pinto beans, fresh coleslaw, tartar sauce. Cost is $15 per plate.

 

Easter Bunny Photos

The Marlin Police Department and offer free photos with the Easter Bunny to the citizens of Marlin. Come on out on March 24 from 4-7 p.m. and March 25 from 9 a.m. to noon to get your Easter Pictures done for the family. Don’t forget to bring your Easter baskets, we’ll also be handing out filled Easter eggs to the kiddos. Bring your own camera.

 

KC Fish fry

Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council #13902 will sponsor a drive-thru Shrimp & Fish Fry every Friday evening thru March 31.  Plates will be “to go only” starting at 3:30-7:15 p.m. (or until sold out).  Plates will consist of fried shrimp, fried fish, beans,  slaw and french fries.  Cost will be $12 per plate. Plates can be picked up in a drive-thru lane behind the Westphalia Parish Hall, 3000 State Highway 320, Westphalia. Proceeds support the KC’s charity goals for the year.

 

Mother daughter tea

A Mother Daughter Tea is being planned. The event is looking for sponsors. Sponsors needed by March 31. Sponsoring options are: Mother/Daughter $15, Gold $150, Silver $75, and Platinum $25. Call Shirley Piper, Executive Director of Faith, Hope and Charity at (254) 644-0296 to sponsor.

 

city of marlin appreciation day

Celebrating the City of Marlin Appreciation Day on April 1 at Marlin City Park from 2-6 p.m. Games, fun, food, and prizes.Everyone is invited.

 

DAR Meeting

The Sterling C. Robertson Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet Thursday, April 6, at First Methodist Church downtown campus at 1300 Austin Avenue at 1 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. Judge Robert Stem from Falls County will give a presentation on the Mier Expedition from the 1840s. He will include maps and artifacts that he has collected.

 

bible study

Bible Studay at the First Presbyterian Church in Lott will begin Saturday, March 25, at 10 a.m. The study will be led by Bonnie Wolfe of Gatesville.  Follow-on dates will be decided at the first study.  Everyone is welcome.  The church is located at 8th St & Gassaway Ave in Lott.  For more info call (254) 493-0567.

 

Car Show

The 20th annual Lions Club Car Show on the Square is set for June 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prizes, 50/50 drawing and more. Pre-registration is $20. Day of registration is $25. Contact Jay Elliott by email at jay.t.elliott@gmail.com to register.

 

Chamber raffle

Marlin Chamber 2023 Raffle tickets are on sale. First prize is a 40” Full HD Television, Second Prize is a Home Theater Projcetor and Screen, Third Prize is a $50 Visa Gift Card. Drawing is on April 10. Tickets are $5 each or three for $12. Conact any Chamber officer for tickets.

Every first Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church parking lot in Marlin.

 

American Legion

Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.

 

Marlin senior

center

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

After School

Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. Lions Club meeting

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place.

 

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
