Fish Fry Friday

Fish Fry Friday at Westphalia Parish Hall starting March 4 through April 8. Cost is $12 a plate for a big plate of fried fish, shrimp, slaw, fries and beans. Please observe the new traffic pattern when ordering. Lets all stay off the highway and stay safe. Knights of Columbus #13902 raffle tickets also available for cash prizes. $20 per ticket or 6 for $100. Available at the fish fry, Westphalia Tire & Battery or from any KC member Proceeds from the raffle will go to buy something for the new church. Drawing will be on April 8.  Need not be present to win.

 

Garage Sale

St. Paul UCC is holding a multi-family garage sale (with baked goods and many new items) on Saturday, March 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  It will be held in the church parsonage at 212 FM 2307 (5 miles north of Marlin off Hwy. 6).

 

Women’s Day

The Mission Auxiliary will celebrate Annual Women’s Day, Sunday, March 13, at 10 a.m.  Sis. Rhonda Milton will be the theme speaker. The speaker of the hour will be Rev. Charles Clark, Pastor of the Independent Missionary Baptist Church, Rosebud. Revival

Zion Hill Baptist Church will host an Anniversary Revival on March 15-17 at 7 p.m. nightly. Special guests will be Pastor Eric Taylor of St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Waco, Pastor Dr. Nika Davis of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Waco, and Pastor Melvin Petty of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Waco. The church is located at 2919 McKenzie Avenue in Waco.

 

Anniversary Hour

Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2919 McKenzie Avenue in Waco will host Anniversary Hour on March 20 at 3:30 p.m. with Special Guest Pastor Edward Ross of Abundant Love Fellowship Church. Masks and social distancing required. Vaccines recommended.

 

Republican Party 

Convention

The Falls County Republican Party Convention will be held on March 26 at 5 p.m. at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 411 Coleman Street in Marlin. Precinct conventions at 5 p.m. County convention at 6 p.m. Join the process to establish the party platform. Become a delegate to the county and state convention.

 

Fryday Fish Fry 

Fryday Fish Fry hosted by Wesleyan Circle FUMC Marlin. Friday, April 8, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 411 Coleman Street in Marlin. Dine in or drive thru (Chambers). Cost is $12 a plate. Meal includes fish, slaw, hushpuppies and beans.

 

Local Youth Program

Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.

 

Computer classes

Computer Classes continue at the Marlin Library on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

 

Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

American Legion

Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month. Next meeting is March 14 at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.

 

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Falconer Stamp Center on Durr Street.
