Memorial Day

The Falls County Historical Commission and American Legion Post 31 invite you to be a part in remembering the men and women who made the supreme sacrifice for the preservation of freedom. Memorial Day 2022 will be held on Monday, May 30, in the District Courtroom, third floor of the Falls County Courthouse, at 11 a.m. Retired Navy Captain, Samuel Wright, will be the keynote speaker.  Please join us in remembering those who fought and gave so much so to keep the United States of America a free and safe nation. 

 

BTW Meeting

Booker T. Washington (BTW) Alumni & Ex-Students Educational Association will host its first in-person meeting, Saturday, May 28, at 12:30 p.m. at the Alumni building.Plans for the upcoming Reunion 2022 and building updates will be discussed. March for Jesus

March for Jesus will be held in Cameron on June 4. March starts at 10 a.m. at New Beginnings Full Gospel Tabernacle at 1805 West 4th Street, Cameron, Texas 76520. Finish March with a rally at Cameron First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 200 West 3rd, Cameron. WESTPHALIA KC 

ANNUAL COMMUNITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE

The Westphalia Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a Community-Wide Garage Sale at the Westphalia Parish Hall Pavilion, State Highway 320, Westphalia on Saturday June 4th, 2022 from 7am to Noon.  BOOTH SPACE IS FREE.  To obtain a booth space or be placed on a map--contact Ken or Teresa Jezisek (512) 927-6581.  Sausage wraps and drinks will be available for purchase from the Knights of Columbus.

 

Swap don’t shop

The Lott Queen of the Prairie Civic Club will host Swap Don’t Shop A community clothing swap event on June 4 at 7 a.m. until noon at the pavilion in Lott by the Post Office. Bring items for exchange.

 

150th Church 

Anniversary

Perry United Methodist Church will celebrate their 150th Anniversary on June 12. It will begin with a 10:30 a.m. service under the direction of Rev. Lynn Starnes. Directly following the service a meal will follow. Cost of plate lunch will be $15 and will be paid at the time of receiving your plate. Chamber Banquet

Marlin Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet on June 30 at 6 p.m. at the Falls County Livestock Youth Pavilion. Featured guest speaker will be former Marlinite Curtis Modkins, Minnesota Vikings running back coach and run game coordinator. Tickets are $20 presale and $25 at the door. Marlin Fest

Marlin Fest will be held at the Falls County Youth Pavilion on July 2 from 5 p.m. until ? Texas Heatwave Band will perform. Music, food, vendors, fun, kid fishing and fireworks.

West Side Turn Row Meeting

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, McLennan County along with multiple county extension committees will host the West Side Turn Row Meeting on Friday, June 17. 

The meeting will be held off Farmview Parkway in Crawford, Texas. 

Dr. Ronnie Schnell, Extension State Cropping Systems Specialist will be providing an update on the Current Growing Season Primarily on Corn, Grain Sorghum, and Cotton. Mark Nemec of MJN Consulting will discuss the Current Scouting Report on crops pertaining to Insect and Disease, and Dr. Jason Johnson, Extension Ag Economist will speak on Ag Commodity Market Updates. There is no cost to attend, and registration begins at 8:00 a.m. 

This program offers 1 TDA CEU - IPM and 2.5 Certified Crop Advisor Credits. Breakfast will be provided during the meeting.

Local Youth Program

Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.

 

Computer classes

Computer Classes continue at the Marlin Library on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

 

Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

American Legion

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School 

Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Falconer Stamp Center on Durr Street.
