Falls County 4-H is sponsoring a Food Drive Oct. 15 through Nov. 15. Drop off locations are: Williams Feed Store, 1st National Bank of Hughes Springs, Miller’s Country Market, Falls County Extension Office, Texas Farm Bureau - Connie Tindle, Falls County Courthouse. Bring canned foods to fight hunger.

 

Thanksgiving 

dinner for the elderly

Free Thanksgiving Dinner for the Elderly and Shut-in (age 65 and older) in Falls County will be held on Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to  1 p.m. at Faith, Hope & Charity, 405 East First Street in Marlin. Sponsored by: Concerned Citizens Organization or Youth Inc., Salvation Army, Apple Sport, Sam’s Club, RJ’s Fences, Brookshire’s, Citizens State Bank, 1st National Bank, and Falls Community Hospital and Clinic. SEMINAR

Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. The seminar features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death and who offer practical suggestions and reassurance. Those who attend will receive a Survival Guide filled with practical tips, encouraging words, journaling ideas, and exercises for daily help through the holiday season. The seminar will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon at the First Baptist Church in Marlin. Registration cost is $10, which includes refreshments and the Survival Guide. Falls County Electronics Cleanup Day in Marlin only at Falls County Jail Site, 2847 Hwy. 6, Marlin. TV’s, Computer Equipment, etc. Saturday, Nov. 18, from 8 a.m. to noon. Funding provided by Central Texas Resource Conservation & Development & Falls County.

Austin Food Truck will be at the First Baptist Church/Golden Years parking lot on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 10-11 a.m.

Every second Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at hte Marlin Men’s Civic Association at 1106 N Business Highway 6.

 

American Legion

Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.

Marlin senior 

center

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

After School 

Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. Lions Club

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place. 

 

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
