Help Feed The Hungry

Please help Central Texans with the products people need most. Food For Families will be collecting food on Nov. 19. Needed items are: canned meats, canned vegetables, cereals, baby food, peanut butter, dry beans, rice, flour, sugar, corn meal, pasta and sauces.

 

DRT Meeting

The Sterling C. Robertson Chapter of the DRT will meet Thursday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. in the Methodist Church Downtown Campus, 1300 Austin Ave., Waco. Our program will be a Presentation on the Women who originally organized the Daughters of the Republic of Texas in Galveston, 1891. It will include information on those women who organized the Waco Chapter. All interested persons are invited to attend and bring a guest.

 

Town Hall Meeting

Congressman Sessions is hosting a town hall in Waco for residents of Texas’ 17th Congressional District. He will provide an overview on important issues and listen to residents’ thoughts, opinions, and concerns. Congressman Sessions encourages residents to bring questions and feedback to be discussed. The Waco Town Hall will be Monday, Nov. 8, from 7-9 p.m. at University High School Performing Arts Center, 3201 S. New Road, Waco, TX 76706-3793.

 

Fall Festival

Marlin ISD will be hosting a Fall Festival on Nov. 10 from 5-8 p.m. at the Elementary School.

 

Upcoming MMBC Church Anniversary

The Marlin Missionary First Baptist Church, Rev. Vincent K. Hartsfield, Pastor, will celebrate its 153rd Church Anniversary, Sunday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m.  The theme is “Back to the Basics”, Acts. 2:42. Rev. F. A. Green Sr. and the Greater Providence Church family will be the anniversary hour guests.

There will be a Pre-Anniversary Revival, Nov. 9-11, featuring Evangelist Pastor Patrick D. Joubert of Dallas.  Praise dancers, soloist, steppers, instrumentals, and lip sync talents are welcomed to participate in the Family & Friends Extravaganza, Saturday, Nov. 13. Winter Coat Drive

Faith, Hope and Charity’s 2021 Winter Clothes and Coat Give-Away will be on Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old Faith, Hope and Charity, 514 Quaid Street, Marlin. You can donate your slightly used, in good condition, clean coats until Nov. 6 to Faith, Hope and Charity. Call (254) 252-0218 to donate.

 

Holy Smoke BBQ

BTW Alumni

BTW Alumni & Ex-Students Educational Association Marlin Chapter will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, November 21 at the Alumni building. Members are asked to bring canned goods for the Thanksgiving Cheer basket service projects. For more information, call 979-739-0219.

 

Thanksgiving Dinner

The 29th Free Thanksgiving Dinner for the elderly and shut-in will be held on Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Faith, Hope and Charity, 405 E. First Street in Marlin. Local Youth Program

Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.

 

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $25 per child. NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Falconer Stamp Center on Durr Street.

 

Lions Club meeting

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place.
