Marlin High School Class of 1972 50th Reunion

Marlin High School Class of 1972 will hold its 50th Reunion on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at 5 p.m. at Marlin Men’s Civic Association, 116 N. Business Hwy 6, Marlin, TX 76661. Mooreville Fish Fry

Mooreville Methodist Church’s Fish Fry is set for Oct. 15 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Drive thru or dine-in. Cost is $15 a plate for fried catfish, hushpuppies. slaw, and potatoes. Live auction at 6:30 p.m.

 

St paul church 

Fish Fry

A drive-through Fish Fry will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 4-6 p.m. (or until sold out) at the St. Paul Community Church parsonage. Plates will be $15 and proceeds will support the restoration of historic St. Paul church at 212 FM 2307, 5 miles north of Marlin off Hwy. 6.

 

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

McLennan Community College, in partnership with the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District, will host a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Commons of the Michaelis Academic Center on the MCC campus. Vaccines will be available for adults needing their first dose, second dose or booster, and for children ages 5-11. Community members are also welcome to receive the vaccine during the clinic. Clean Up Day

Families of Hillcrest is having a cleanup day Oct. 22 starting at 7:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery on FM 147.  Please join in our efforts to maintain the cemetery for those resting there.  Feel free to bring yard tools you are comfortable using.  We look forward to seeing you.

Fundraiser

A fundraiser for the Marlin Senior Civic Center will be held on Friday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 104 Hays Street in Marlin. Pork loin plates with pork loin and gravy, spaetzle, green beans, dessert and tea for $12 donation. Eat  in or carry out. 

 

GRIEFSHARE SEMINAR

Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death.  The seminar features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death and who offer practical suggestions and reassurance. Those who attend will receive a Survival Guide filled with practical tips, encouraging words, journaling ideas, and exercises for daily help through the holiday season.  The seminar will be held Saturday, October 29, 10 a.m. to noon at the First Baptist Church in Marlin. HOLIDAY INSTANT POT COOKING CLASS

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of McLennan County will be conducting a Holiday Instant Pot cooking class from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Join instructor Colleen Foleen & Ashley Cox with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and put your electric pressure cooker to work for the holidays.  The class will meet at Texas A&M AgriLife’s facility at 4224 Cobbs Drive, Waco TX 76710 Registration for this course closes at 5 p.m. the day prior to class. Local Youth Program

Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.

 

Computer classes

Computer Classes continue at the Marlin Library on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

 

Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

American Legion

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School 

Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School.
