Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

Farm Bureau Convention planned

The Falls County Farm Bureau Annual County Convention will be Monday, Oct. 18, at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, 213 N.6th Street in Lott, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a barbecue meal. Meal tickets are $5.

In order to have an accurate count for the caterer, the deadline for reservations is Oct. 13.

Board members whose terms are expiring are: Charles Ellison, John Minor, David Coker Jr., Jared Ranly DVM, Larry Hoelscher, Wendell Little and Michael Caddell.

The policy development committee is accepting suggestions for resolutions.

 

Fish Fry

Mooreville United Methodist Church will host a Fish Fry on Oct. 23 from 4:30-7 p.m. or until sold out. Cost is $12 per plate. Drive-thru only. Catfish, garlic potatoes, coleslaw, beans, hush puppies and dessert. The church is located at 206 FM 2643, Chilton.

 

Lights on After School

Faith, Hope and Charity will participate in the nationwide Lights On After School program on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 4:30-6 p.m. at 405 E. First Street in Marlin. The purpose of this program is to increase our investment in our children so that one day soon every child will have access to quality after school care programs that keep them safe, help working families and inspire students to learn. Falls County Republicans

Senator Brian Birdwell will be the keynote speaker at the Annual Fall Kick-off of the Falls County Republican Party & Republican Women on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. at Marlin Volunteer Fire Department in Marlin.  Tickets are $20 for a fish dinner, silent auction, live auction, and door prizes.  Get your tickets by email fallscountygop@gmail.com or mail check to P.O. Winter Coat Drive

Faith, Hope and Charity’s 2021 Winter Clothes and Coat Give-Away will be on Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old Faith, Hope and Charity, 514 Quaid Street, Marlin. You can donate your slightly used, in good condition, clean coats until Nov. 6 to Faith, Hope and Charity. Call (254) 252-0218 to donate.

 

BTW Alumni

BTW Alumni & Ex-Students Educational Association Marlin Chapter will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, November 21 at the Alumni building. Members are asked to bring canned goods for the Thanksgiving Cheer basket service projects. For more information, call 979-739-0219.

 

Thanksgiving Dinner

The 29th Free Thanksgiving Dinner for the elderly and shut-in will be held on Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Faith, Hope and Charity, 405 E. First Street in Marlin. Deadline to reserve a dinner is Nov. 13. Volunteers are needed for delivery. Please call Shirley King at (254) 644-0296 with name, address, and phone number to get your dinner.

 

Local Youth Program

Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.

 

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $25 per child. NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Falconer Stamp Center on Durr Street.

 

Lions Club meeting

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place.
