Fundraiser

A fundraiser for the Marlin Senior Civic Center will be held on Friday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 104 Hays Street in Marlin. Pork loin plates with pork loin and gravy, spaetzle, green beans, dessert and tea for $12 donation. Eat  in or carry out. 

 

National Night Out/Trunk or Treat

National Night Out/ Trunk or Treat will be on Oct. 29 in Marlin. Bring the Family out for some food and fun from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Falls County Youth Fair Pavilion.

 

GRIEFSHARE SEMINAR

Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death.  The seminar features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death and who offer practical suggestions and reassurance. Those who attend will receive a Survival Guide filled with practical tips, encouraging words, journaling ideas, and exercises for daily help through the holiday season.  The seminar will be held Saturday, October 29, 10 a.m. to noon at the First Baptist Church in Marlin. BBQ Chicken Dinner

Flag Hall will have a BBQ Chicken Dinner on Oct. 30 at  the hall in Cyclone.  Serving starts at 11 a.m. Price is $12 per plate.  Dine in or plates to go.  Put Flag Hall in your GPS to get there. Call Bobby Hoelscher at (254) 913-0915 for information.

 

Holy Smoke BBQ

FUMC Marlin will have its Holy Smok BBQ fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 13. Cost is $15 for a mixed plate with 1/2 chicken and sausage with the fixings at FUMC Marlin, 411 Coleman Street in Marlin. Drive through from Chambers Street.

 

Winter coat drive

Faith, Hope and Charity will hold a Winter Coat & Clothes Give-Away on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at OLD Faith, Hope & Charity, 514 Quaid St. in Marlin. You can donate your slightly used, good condition, clean coats and clothes until Saturday, Nov. 5, to Faith, Hope & Charity.

 

Toys For Kids

It’s that time to sing up for Toys For Kid. You can sing up at the Marlin Chamber of Commerce office now until Nov. 17 and there will not be no applications accepted after Nov. 17 this drive is only for falls county kids only please when you come bring proof of residential and the ages is up to 12 years old only.

 

Food For Families

Please help Central Texans with the products people need most: canned meats like tuna, chili, or chicken; canned vegetables, cereals, baby food, peanut butter, dry beans, rice, flour, sugar, corn meal, pasta and sauces. You can donate online at www.kwtx.com/foodforfamilies or on Nov. 18 at HEB in Marlin. All donations go to the community in the county collected in.

 

Free Thanksgiving Dinner

Free Thanksgiving Dinner for the Elderly (Age 65 and older) will be held Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Faith, Hope & Charity, 405 E 1st Street, in Marlin. Sponsored by Fath, Hope & Charity: Concerned Citizens, Organization for Youth Inc., Salvation Army, Apple Sport Ford, HEB, Sam’s Club of Waco, Brookshire Brothers Robinson, First National Bank, Citizens State Bank, Bancorp South, Falls Community Hospital and Sonic. HOLIDAY INSTANT POT COOKING CLASS

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of McLennan County will be conducting a Holiday Instant Pot cooking class from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Join instructor Colleen Foleen & Ashley Cox with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and put your electric pressure cooker to work for the holidays. This workshop will help you make the most out of your investment while preparing a variety of traditional holiday recipes in less time without tying up you, your oven, or stove-top. Local Youth Program

Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.

 

Computer classes

Computer Classes continue at the Marlin Library on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

 

Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

American Legion

Veterans Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School 

Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child.
