COVID WALK/RUN

MTX Juneteenth Organization will host the Second Annual COVID Walk/Run. Registration is $20. Run and walk. Start from Marlin Courthouse on Saturday, Oct. 21, 8-10 a.m. Finish at Falls County Youth Pavilion Building at 319 Willis Street. Register by Oct. 4. charity play day

As a part of a national wide effort to help children have more active and healthy lifestyles,the Faith, Hope, and Charity (FHC) has planned its Annual Play Day, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Apple Sport Complex, corner of Anders at Ward Streets in Marlin. Activities will include bounce houses, free hot dogs, cookies and water, splash pad and overall family fun.

The public is asked to bring your lawn chairs & blankets. Everything is free. FHC is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving local youth ranging from Preschool-5th grade. Homework assistance, tutoring and individualized instruction are provided. The program is based on S.A.Y. (Save Our Youth). For more info, contact Shirley Piper at (254) 644-0296.

Kosse Methodist Bazzaar

Kosse will be the place to be on Oct. 7 for the 43rd annual bazaar of the Kosse Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to bring their family and friends and come early to browse through the white elephant sale, do some early Christmas shopping at the craft store and silent auction and find something wohderful at the country store and bake sale. Don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets for the many great items on the raffle this year. Raffle tickets are available for any church member or on the day of the bazaar and you don’t have to be present to win. Stay for a delicious lunch of BBQ ribs and sausage with all the trimmings or maybe you’d prefer a sandwich. No matter what you choose, it will all be fantastic. The live auction will start at 1 p.m. with many unusual and beautiful items up for auction. It will be a great day so hope to see you all there for a day of fun, food and most importantly - fellowship.

 

BBQ Cookoff

Think you make the best BBQ in town? Well mark your calendars for Oct. 7 & 8 and come prove it at the 2nd Annual Small Town Throwdown BBQ Cookoff sponsored by the Riesel Lions Club. $5 Entry Fee $10 Cooler Fee. On Saturday, Oct. 7, there will be a domino tournament & a cornhole tournament Cookoff Registration begins at noon. Austin Food Truck will be at the First Baptist Church/Golden Years parking lot on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 10-11 a.m.

Every second Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at hte Marlin Men’s Civic Association at 1106 N Business Highway 6.

 

American Legion

Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.

 

Marlin senior 

center

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

Lions Club meeting

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place.
