Fish Fry Benefit
There will be a Fish Fry Benefit for David and Sheila Lawson on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Marlin Men’s Civic Association Building from 5-7 p.m. Cost is $10 per plate. Drive thru or dine-in. Countdown Event
First Baptist Church of Rosebud, located at 111 Main Street, Rosebud, will host a Countdown Event Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. All who are interested in packing shoebox gifts for needy children, through this global Christmas project, Operation Christmas Child may attend this free area event. Information about the project, make and take activities, snacks, and stories that share the impact shoebox gifts have made on children’s lives, will be provided to participants. Farm Bureau
Convention planned
The Falls County Farm Bureau Annual County Convention will be Monday, Oct. 18, at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, 213 N.6th Street in Lott, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a barbecue meal. Meal tickets are $5.
In order to have an accurate count for the caterer, the deadline for reservations is Oct. 13.
Board members whose terms are expiring are: Charles Ellison, John Minor, David Coker Jr., Jared Ranly DVM, Larry Hoelscher, Wendell Little and Michael Caddell.
The policy development committee is accepting suggestions for resolutions.
Fish Fry
Mooreville United Methodist Church will host a Fish Fry on Oct. 23 from 4:30-7 p.m. or until sold out. Cost is $12 per plate. Drive-thru only. Catfish, garlic potatoes, coleslaw, beans, hush puppies and dessert. The church is located at 206 FM 2643, Chilton.
Local Youth Program
Gospel Lighthouse Church invites all youths within the community to Foundation Youth, an hour and a half long time of games, food, fun, and fellowship. It takes place each Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at 1009 Live Oak in Marlin.
Veterans Assistance
Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach. After School Program
The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $25 per child. NAACP
NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Falconer Stamp Center on Durr Street.
Lions Club meeting
Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place.
