CHICKEN FAJITA 

DINNER

St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marlin will host a chicken fajita dinner on Sunday, Sept. 10, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dine in and to go plates - chicken fajitas, rice, beans, pico, tortillas and cake for $13 a plate. Raffle tickets available for $1 each or six for $5. There will also be a bake sale going on. The church is located at 311 Oaks Street in Marlin.

 

GERMAN MEAL

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold a German Meal on Sept. 16 from 4:30-6:30 p.m., 264 CR 143 in Riesel. Pork Schnitzel, sausage, potatoes, kraut, green beans, gravey, break and dessert for $15. Email TLC140y@gmail.com for tickets ahead of time.

charity play day

As a part of a national wide effort to help children have more active and healthy lifestyles,the Faith, Hope, and Charity (FHC) has planned its Annual Play Day, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Apple Sport Complex, corner of Anders at Ward Streets in Marlin. Activities will include bounce houses, free hot dogs, cookies and water, splash pad and overall family fun.

The public is asked to bring your lawn chairs & blankets. Everything is free. FHC is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving local youth ranging from Preschool-5th grade. Homework assistance, tutoring and individualized instruction are provided. The program is based on S.A.Y. (Save Our Youth). For more info, contact Shirley Piper at (254) 644-0296.

 

 

RLHS CLASS OF 97 REUNION

American Legion

Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.

 

Marlin senior center

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

Story Time

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

After School 

Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place.

Assistance

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
