Big Burn

City The city of Marlin on Friday morning conducted a state-approved “controlled burn” at the City Lake burn site last week. Mayor Susan Byrd said the Texas Commission On Environmental Quality (TCEQ) approved the burning. The burn pile consisted mainly of fallen trees and limbs from the recent storms that plagued the Marlin area. The pile is “extremely large and may affect air quality when burned which is why approval from TCEQ is necessary,” the city previously said. “There is no room at the burn site for additional limbs or trees until a burn can take place.”
