Burglar held at gunpoint by homeowner, arrested on multiple charges

Residents on County Road 467 in Lott have had an eventful week, with multiple disturbances occurring within a 24-hour period. 

Lynn Cantwell, of Waco, was taken into custody on Wednesday, Sept 29, after being held at gunpoint by the resident whom’s shed she was in the process of burglarizing.

Cantwell is charged with burglary of a building, but is also being held in Falls County Jail on charges of theft of a motor vehicle.

On Tuesday, Sept 29, around 9 p.m., the Falls County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle theft in the Lott area. 

Upon arriving at the impacted residence, Deputies put their skills to work and were able to develop a suspect profile from the evidence left behind on the scene.

The next day, the department received a call reporting an abandoned vehicle that matched the description of the stolen vehicle. When the car was recovered, it and the area surrounding it were processed by deputies for any additional evidence, then the car was returned to its owner.

Around 4 p.m., the call was received that a resident on County Road 467A was holding a female subject, fully armed at ready. 

The Lott Police Department, Falls County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the incident.
