Candidacy Announcement for Marlin ISD Board District 2 Seat

My name is Misty Ehlers and I am announcing my candidacy for the Marlin ISD Board of Trustee District 2 seat. I moved to Marlin in 2001 after graduating from Oklahoma State with a degree in elementary education. While at Marlin ISD, I enjoyed working as a 3rd grade teacher, a 1st grade teacher and a Prek-12th grade ESL teacher. During the last few years at Marlin ISD, I became the District’s ESL coordinator and the District Testing Coordinator. In 2016, God began preparing me to leave Marlin ISD to start my own early childhood education center to help prepare younger children for kindergarten. I left Marin ISD at the end of the ‘16-’17 school year to open the center; however, COVID hit in 2020 causing many, including myself, to have to close our businesses.

In 2021, I was given the opportunity to apply for a seat on the Board of Managers and was selected by TEA. As a member of the Board, I have used my knowledge of the school system as well as the policy and procedures of a school district to ensure our students were getting opportunities to make their future dreams reality. As an elected board member, I would continue to ensure our students are given every opportunity to be prepared for their future endeavors, as well as, policies and procedures are continuing to be followed. I need your vote to do this.

You can vote early from April 20-28, 2026 or vote on election day, May 2, 2026. Both early voting and election day will be held at the Annex Building in the Industrial Park.
