City of Marlin responds to storm

Despite having their own damage to deal with, the City of Marlin jumped into action following the destructive storm on Wednesday, May 27. 

Within the three-hour period following the storm, all trees were cleared from roads, numerous damage reports from citizens had been addressed, and emergency response had been dispatched as needed. 

The fire rescue team addressed a number of high water rescues, while the administrative team responded to calls in different sections of town. 

Though the western part of the city was the most damaged, no major outages were reported. Because Oncor was made aware immediately, all power was restored within that three-hour period as well. 

Community members took the streets to offer help to those who needed assistance as well.

Fire Department officials faced a situation where a tree had fallen on electrical lines and was being kept from falling on a house by the lines. Citizens stepped in to be sure the residents there left the structure in case anything gave way. 

Overall, numerous good samaritans, Marlin Fire Department, Marlin Police Department, Marlin Volunteer Fire Department, City of Marlin Public Works, Falls County Emergency Management, FCHC Emergency Management, and Falls County Constable, Pct. 1 all came out to facilitate recovery. Further assistance may be coming, according to city leaders. 

Marlin City Hall, Marlin Police Department, and Marlin Fire Department all suffered broken and/or cracked windows as well as roof damage. City of Marlin and MPD vehicles were severely damaged as well. 

According to officials, everything is under insurance and will be repaired in the near future.
