City under water restrictions

The City of Marlin is under a Mandatory level 2 water restriction, the City announced on Dec. 31.

According to the City, a skid at the water plant broke and had to be replaced. The City said it tried to obtain the parts needed for long-term repair on Jan. 1, but were not able to due to manufacturers being closed for the New Year holiday.

City staff completed emergency repairs to allow the plant to resume production on a provisional basis. The City said they are hoping to get the parts they need as quickly as possible to ensure uninterrupted water production, but that level 2 restrictions will remain in place until further notice.

The City of Marlin said the safety and well-being of citizens, visitors and businesses are their top priority and city staff have been working around the clock to mitigate the situation.

Mayor Susan Byrd thanked residents for their patience and diligence in conserving water in a post on social media.
