Commissioners approve several items during last meeting of the year

The Commissioners Court of Falls County met on Tuesday, Dec. 21, with County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Except for Precinct 3 Commissioner Jason Willberg, all commissioners were present. 

Judge Elliott noted public comments could be presented under public comments or during the designated agenda line item. He announced for easier accessibility, the Brazilian Riffle & Ammunition Company selected Georgia as its location. 

Commissioners approved to pay the $1,695 tuition for Sgt. Lucy Carrizales to attend MCC Law Enforcement Academy for the spring semester. The employee would be under contract standard with the prior employees sent to the academy by FCSO.  Upon completion, Carrizales will fill open Deputy position. 

Internet service ZochNet was approved as Partner Provider for Falls County Broadband Infrastructure through $63 million government funding program available to states for Fiber Optics. ZochNet is experienced in rural Fiber Construction and made the list of “America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies” 2019-2021. Funding may not start until the end of 2023. There is no cost to Falls County for the multi-platform.

Commissioners approved the TXCDBG Draw #9 request transmittal. There was discussion on the relocation of the pre-existing bonding company. It was agreed to renew bonding for those needed for one year. 

Commissioner Milton Albright moved the payment of all bills, including reimbursements, transfer of cash or funds from any line item or departments to another, budget amendments and payroll, seconded by Commissioner F.A. Green; motion carried. Commissioner Nita Wuebker moved to accept the December 13, 2021 minutes, seconded by Commissioner Albright; motion carried and the meeting adjourned.
