County Commissioners approve Tax Abatement agreement
Falls County Commissioners Court met Monday, June 9, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. The commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F. A. Green (Pct 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3), and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4). ADA Steve Sharp was present.
Commissioner Wuebker moved to adopt the reinvestment zone for purpose of tax abatement to provide economic development within the county in accordance with Chapter 312 of the Texas Tax Code, said reinvestment zone to be known as Falls County Reinvestment Zone-Riverbend Renewables, LLC, and located as described and depicted in the application Tax Abatement Agreement, and in the public notices published in accordance with Chapter 312 of the Texas Tax Code. Seconded by Commissioner Albright, the motion carried.
Concerning the adoption of a Tax Abatement Agreement with Riverbend Renewables LLC., Commissioner Wuebker moved to adopt the Tax Abatement Agreement, seconded by Commissioner Green, the motion carried. It was noted during the Abatement period, sales taxes are for Falls County.
Commissioner Albright moved to approve a $2500 Deed without Warranty offer for the purchase of an old railroad right of way near McClanahan to Becky Reed Lloyd and Rickey David Reed. Moved by Commissioner Green, the motion carried.
The purchase of a new server from Engineer Austin including licenses to serve Edoc software was discussed. Commissioner Albright moved to purchase the server, seconded by Commissioner Green, the motion carried. Commissioner Wuebker moved to approve the Chilton Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Contract # CDV23-0043 Draw Request #2 in the amount of $16,875.00. Seconded by Commissioner Jason Willberg, the motion carried.
On another note, parties involved in the closure of CR 406B will be petitioned to attend the Commissioners Court meeting. Jeff Jackson, Road & Bridge Administrator, reported the purchase of a 2015 John Deere grader. Jackson reported the June Trash/Tire Collection Day went well and bridge work is progressing. FEMA is beginning to pay for designated repairs.
Along with amendments, Commissioner Green approved the payments of bills, seconded by Commissioner Willberg, the motion carried. Commissioner Wuebker moved to approve May 27, 2025 minutes. Seconded by Commissioner Willberg, the motion carried. With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:23 a.m. The next Commissioners Court meeting will be on June 23 at 9 a.m.
