Debra A. Levels-McDavid, Longtime Community Member and Former Public Official, Announces Candidacy for MISD Board of Trustees, District 1

“The Voice, The Choice”

Running on a platform centered on fairness, educational advancement, and community development, Levels-McDavid emphasizes a commitment to serving both students and residents of Marlin.

Ms. Debra Levels-Mc-David describes herself as “committed to community” and “devoted to economic development, educational advancement, and fairness.” Her campaign also underscores dedication to “principles, progress, performance, and prosperity,” along with a promise to be “a voice for Marlin residents.”

Her campaign outlines a mission focused on building past achievements while preparing students for future success. Her vision highlights creating opportunities for all children to “soar, succeed, observe, achieve, and reach to the stars.” A central goal of her platform is ensuring that every child regardless of economic status, language, or background has access to a high-quality education.

Being a 1978 graduate of Marlin ISD, where she ranked among the top 10 students in her class, Ms. Levels-McDavid holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is married and a mother of three Marlin ISD graduates, all of whom have gone on to earn college degrees.

She is married and a mother of three MISD graduates, all of whom have gone on to earn college degrees Debra Levels- McDavid has previously served on the MISD School Board as Vice President and has been involved in school-related activities such as tutoring, assisting with math test preparation, and supporting booster clubs. In addition, she served for several years as Mayor Pro Tem and Councilwoman for Precinct 3 on the Marlin City Council.

Professionally, she brings more than 38 years of experience working with the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other government agencies. Her roles included Assistant Area Director and Regional Safety and Health Manager, where she oversaw safety policies, enforcement,

and federal grant management. If elected, Debra Levels- McDavid says she

plans to use her experience to help guide district governance and support student achievement. She notes that the Board of Trustees is responsible for key decisions in adopting district policies, supporting student and staff development, and approving financial requirements, to name a few.

There will be a Meet & Greet at the Lucille Williams Pavilion on Saturday, April 25, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Early voting for the election will take place from April 20 through April 28, 2026, at the Falls County Annex Building on Industrial Park Road, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
